About Evelyn & Mehdi
Samadhi Yoga was born from a shared path.
A conscious decision that invites a gradual return — to the body, to the breath, and to what truly matters.
In the yogic tradition, Samadhi describes a state of deep meditative presence: the quiet summit where movement, awareness, and stillness become one. For us, Samadhi is not a distant goal or an abstract idea. It is something practiced gently, every day — on the mat and in life.
Founded by life and teaching partners Evelyn and Mehdi, Samadhi Yoga is shaped by two cultures, many years of travel and learning, and one shared devotion to yoga as a way of living — not performing.
Evelyn
Originally from Chetumal, Evelyn spent years living in Mexico City, working in the structured world of numbers and analysis. As a child, she trained for over a decade in classical ballet, immersed in music, discipline, and movement — an early education in listening to the body.
Yoga entered her life quietly and returned with clarity in 2020, when a daily practice revealed itself as more than physical movement. It became a path of self-knowledge, presence, and harmony — a space where body, mind, and spirit could meet in dialogue.
This calling led Evelyn to India, where she completed her Hatha Yoga certification, studying within the slow, intentional rhythm of traditional teaching. There, surrounded by breathwork, mantra, and silence, her purpose became clear: to share yoga as a lived, accessible practice rooted in awareness and care.
Today, Evelyn guides her students with sensitivity and intention, inviting presence into every posture and breath. Her teaching is an accompaniment — supporting each person as they reconnect with their body, their essence, and their capacity to begin again.
Mehdi
Mehdi’s relationship with the body was shaped through discipline, movement, and performance.
Originally from France, he has lived in Mexico for over two decades. His early career was rooted in high-performance sports, where he trained professionally in sports science, nutrition, physiology, and training methodology. He worked with leading institutions including Pumas UNAM, the Mexican Football Federation, Club América, and professional teams in the United States.
After COVID, yoga shifted from training to transformation.
Coming from a structured Ashtanga background, Mehdi felt drawn to explore yoga beyond form — toward its philosophical foundations, origins, and lineage. Together with Evelyn, he traveled to India to complete certifications in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, studying with teachers deeply committed to preserving the integrity of the tradition.
Mehdi’s teaching bridges clarity and calm, strength and listening. His approach honors both the intelligence of the body and the depth of the practice.
A Shared Practice
Evelyn and Mehdi have always practiced together.
What began as a shared lifestyle naturally became a shared project — rooted in partnership, balance, and respect. In 2024, they chose to settle in Mérida, a city deeply connected to family roots and aligned with their desire for community, warmth, and presence.
Samadhi Yoga grew from that choice.
The studio is designed to welcome. It is a space for locals, families, visitors, and practitioners of all levels to slow down and feel at home. A place where yoga is taught with humility, care, and reverence for its origins.
As they continue to learn and teach, Evelyn and Mehdi remain guided by a simple belief:
Every breath is an opportunity to begin again.
